The Bronx Volunteer Coalition’s Volunteer of the Year Awards were covered in the Bronx Chronicle by our keynote speaker, “I Love the Bronx” columnist and super-volunteer Nilka Martell.

Held at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, the event was attended by nearly 100 Bronxites.

Volunteers in four categories were acknowledged: “Young Volunteer Leader”; “Neighborhood Impact”; “Lifetime Volunteer Service”; and “Organized Volunteer Impact”. Seventeen individuals and seven groups were honored, and the online voting received over 6,700 votes.

The Bronx has come a long way. For decades, the initiatives of volunteers have largely responsible for the restoration and revitalization of the Bronx.
