Looking for amazing New York City volunteer opportunities? BUILD is an innovative, college preparatory program, whose mission is to use entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income high school students to college and career success.
VOLUNTEER AS A BUILD MENTOR! BUILD ignites the potential of youth from under-resourced communities through experiential learning. Support high school students in launching their very own businesses while connecting with passionate, like-minded New York City professionals. Mentoring is a great way to share your professional background with students while inspiring them to stay on the path to college success. Mentors are assigned to student teams and coach students through starting and launching their own businesses.
Here are some details on what a mentoring commitment looks like:
Location: Manhattan, Brooklyn or the Bronx
Time commitment: 2 hours, once a week (M-Th)
Session runs: September 2016 – May 2017 (with winter and spring breaks)
2 mentors assigned per team (1:4 mentor to student ratio)
Sites are accesible through public transportation
